OK. Back on Topic. One of the most asked questions I get is: What are the improvements I can make that will net me the biggest increase in value for my home? I’m not a builder, but the answer is pretty easy.
ONLY MAKE BIG RENOVATIONS TO MAKE YOUR HOME BETTER FOR YOU!!! No one ever listens though.
Trends come and go constantly with colors, materials, special features and more. My feeling is the best value to you as a homeowner is to maintain your home as needed. Keep in mind appearance, functionality and ease of living as your priorities. Make thoughtful changes and improvements that benefit you and yours and don’t ever do it for a possible Return On Investment(ROI). Styles and trends change too fast to keep up & improvements that make your life better will probably be a boon to the home’s next owner too. Before Covid, everyone wanted the breezy togetherness & intimacy of open concept. After having a full house during a long lockdown…people suddenly favored a little compartmentalization, quiet and privacy. Keep in mind an earlier article I reviewed this year rated kitchen remodels as an almost guaranteed loss for ROI. Here we are talking about new kitchen trends.
That said, it’s still fun to look at all the new stuff that designers are coming up with, for usable tips if nothing else. Here’s the link to the article: https://www.nar.realtor/blogs/styled-staged-sold/4-hot-kitchen-trends-mixed-up-and-multifunctional?
If you’re considering a project, obviously consult a trusted, licensed builder. You might want to talk to a Realtor too. We see & hear what buyers want every day. That said, remember the mantra I screamed at you in the beginning: ONLY MAKE BIG RENOVATIONS TO MAKE YOUR HOME BETTER FOR YOU!!!
Most importantly, Have Fun!
