Happy Independence Day!!!

Happy Independence Day

My sister introduced me to one of my favorite cartoons. It becomes my laptop background at the beginning of June & makes me smile through mid-July. I enjoy studying the Revolutionary War. There’s so many awesome stories that no matter how tough life becomes I can find inspiration with the heroes of The Revolution.

Imagine a bunch of regular guys facing off against the USMC. That’s essentially what our forefathers did. The British sported the preeminent military in the world at the time. George Washington & Co. committed treason in spite of that. Remember, the British were never coming…Everyone was British. Time & again, Washington had his head handed to him in battle by that disciplined, experienced army, but still managed to keep his army alive long enough to wear that skilled, well supplied military down until surrender wasn’t a choice for them anymore. It was inevitable.

Did you know that John Adams volunteered to defend the redcoats involved in the Boston Massacre in court? He did, because no one would represent them at trial. He felt everyone deserves the protection of the Law. That Son of Liberty got them all off too, except the captain, who got a slap on the wrist. He said it was the best piece of legal work he’d ever done.

Don’t even get me started on the Battle of Cowpens. Brrr. I get chills thinking of it. Yes, I’m a geek.

These stories & many more inspire me to keep charging when I’m feeling too battered & ineffective. They remind me that one act of courage, no matter how small, keeps the world going a little longer, a little better. If they could endure long odds & incredible hardships usually with a mind towards doing so with dignity & honor, I can too. Even their many failures inspire me to get up after I, repeatedly, get knocked down. Take a look. It’s all there.

Have a Wonderful Independence Day & loads of fun!
